SIMULATION CENTER

Firefighting Training Simulator (OYMES) is prepared in order to provide trainings for forest engineers, who have important roles in firefighting, using simulation techniques. The simulator is designed to improve organization and coordination skills of managers who take charge in firefighting. Forest engineers can become team leaders, line managers or fire managers in course of firefighting. They already practice in real fires. However, using this simulator they could improve their skills without real fires.

With the scenarios prepared using OYMES it's aimed that the trainees practice more on different cases and emergencies, and gain experience. After each scenario evaluation reports are provided so that the trainees see the effects of their decisions and actions. Thus, trainees become experienced before real fire cases, and they will learn how to use the equipment and lead the personnel in fire management organization.

Fire dispersion model, counter-fire method and fire extinction models in OYMES can also be used as decision support system for combating forest fires. Adding information on stands, weather and topography to the system, trainees can predict which way the fire will spread. That's how they make decisions before it covers larger areas.

Using simulation techniques, forest engineers who take on important tasks in firefighting are assigned with some roles so that they can improve their management and coordination skills.
